training rottweiler puppies
How do i potty train my 7week old rottweiler puppy ???? Also how to train it not to turn on my kids ???? ta?

7 weeks old is too young for this dog to be away from mom. You are likely always going to have more training, health, and personality issues with a dog like this because of the bad breeding (a good breeder would have held the dog at least another week or two) and being pulled away from mom so early. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I’d hope it gives you time to be prepared and to make good choices for him.

As far as potty training, this is a frequently asked question. The search box at the top of the page is one great way to get an assortment of answers.

Be consistent.

Reward him for going

NEVER punish him for accidents

As far as him “turning”, why would he turn? Rotties aren’t any more likely to “turn” than a cocker spaniel. And frankly, I’m more scared of Cockers than Rotties. If him “turning” was a concern, why did you get this breed?

Get puppy into training as soon as he’s old enough and gets the vet’s ok. This will build an master-dog bond with you immediately and will get his brain working in a “listen” mode. Keep up with training until you get to a point where you feel comfortable that he listens to you and that you understand how to keep it up. This will likely mean at least 1-2 training packages acomplia to buy a year for the next several years, and refreshers as he gets older.

Get him on a high quality food to prevent joint and coat issues. Joint issues are a BIG concern for Rotties – especially ones that didn’t come from responsible breeders.

GL with puppy. I’m sure he’s just adorable. : )

Added: Soda Pop’s answer is plain awful. You NEVER hit a dog. EVER. And while you have to be the master, “dominance” is not the way to do it. If you intimitdate your dog, he’ll be more likely to “turn”. Cesar Milan means well in some of his techniques, but others are downright abusive and awful. Find a good trainer in your area – never rely on a stranger on TV.
