Rottweiler Training for 8 week old female?
I just brought home an 8 week old Rott.:) She is very friendly and wants to play all the time. She is eating fine and sleeps most of the day. Problem is we’ve had her a week now and shes learning her name, but shes not taking commands very well. We are being consistant and will continue to be consistant and establish a routine, but I was wondering if there were any tips out there to help in the training process.
Especially for my female Rott. Serious answers only please. I don’t have time for rude people with nothing else to do!
Thanks in advance for your help!!
Thanks to all who have responded. Sofira (dog’s name) has leared how to “sit” as of yesterday. We will continue to progress. I cannot choose a BEST answer because they were all very insightful and helpful…Thanks again!!!
Hi there. Congrats on your new addition — I am a big Rottie fan!
Honestly, I think your expectations are a little too high at this stage. At 8 weeks old she has the attention span of a gnat. For now, I think you should forget about formal commands, at least for another week or two. I would be much more concerned about socialization and getting the puppy used to things like her collar and leash.
Then, at around 12 weeks after she has completed her set of vaccinations, you can start puppy obedience classes.
The problem with attempting formal commands with a 8 week old puppy is that they lose interest literally within minutes. You want obedience to be FUN process in the future compare prices cialis when it really counts, therefore I say let a puppy be a puppy and worry about formalities when she is a little older.
